Each year comes with something different, whether it be adventure, lessons, grief, or happiness! It brings something! It may not always be something good for you; heck it may even be nothing sometimes. Point is it is never constant. That’s just the way of life.

However, each year during the month of May, we celebrate Mother’s Day. This is a constant thing we do every year. The date may change but the meaning or sentiments behind it stays the same. It is Mother’s Day!

I have partnered with Neutrogena & Johnson’s baby to make this year’s Mother’s Day an extra special day for 2 Moms and their little ones. This Mother’s Day, I will be giving away 2 special hampers worth R700 each to 2 lucky winners. In the hampers, there’ll be goodies from Neutrogena specifically for the Mom and goodies from Johnson’s Baby for the little one.

Personally, I have been using Neutrogena products for a while now and they are amazing on my skin. They smell great, keeps me hydrated, and I can always count on them to keep my face looking beautiful. Johnson’s Baby has also been a constant in my life. Way before I had my daughter, I used to help my Mom with my little brothers and she swore by Johnson’s baby. She used their products for just about everything – from shampoos to lotions – and each time she was happy with the results. It’s no surprise that I use the Johnson’s baby products on my daughter as well. They are simply amazing, gentle on little one’s skin, smells like a breath of fresh air, and are totally affordable.

Now imagine having those 2 amazing brands in one hamper?

Hi, love your blog – I love being a mother even though my sons are grown up now…..when my first was born I wondered why I had waited so long to have him because the love I had for him was all encompassing and overwhelming – and being a mum became the most important facet of my life – I loved being there for them at all their sports games, helped with homework etc, we always had all their friends over and took them with us on holidays……they said they realised they benefitted greatly from my being at home and I wouldn’t change one bit of it ❤️ I could go on and on…….

When I was involved in a horrific car accident that claimed the life of someone I loved dearly, my mum was there to cushion my fall. I fell into such a deep depression and instead of grieving with me, my mother empowered me each day to get up and be strong. And that’s coming from a woman who became a widow at the age of 30 with 2 young kids to care for! That was 16 years ago, and my mum is still the anchor in my life. In fact, it’s because of her that I decided to become a psychologist instead as I am now a beacon of strength thanks to her wisdom. The other day, we were chatting and she took out a box of chocolates and a card. I looked carefully and I realized that the box of chocolates was a gift from my boyfriend who passed away. He had given it to my mum for Mother’s Day 16 years ago and it was so well preserved as if she had recently recieved it! I read the inscription inside which said, ” you are like a mother to me”. Let’s just say, we both cried and smiled to ourselves. That to me was the best moment that we shared! I realized that I wanted to be like my mother, inspiring people along the way. Here’s a poem that I dedicate to all the moms out there!

To all the mothers out there I wish you a happy Mother’s Day,
You have made a great contribution to the world that’s more than I can say,
The sacrifices that you make every single day,
Makes you spectacular in every way,
My best moment was when I looked into my daughters Brown eyes,
At the age of 22 I felt that I couldn’t handle this precious baby’s cries,
Yet something took over me that day,
It was a mothers natural instincts that seemed to guide my way,
13 years later my daughter and I are like sisters it’s true,
I wouldn’t change a thing as motherhood is the best gift I am telling you,
So here’s to mothers both young and old,
You are far more precious than diamonds and gold,
For the keys to heaven lies under a mothers feet you know,
Seeing her children smile is the best way to see a mother glow!

Motherhood is knowing joy, even while experiencing the hardest trials of life. I have learned to rise to any occasion and found myself lifted to new heights while stretching myself beyond any and all limits I once put upon myself. With rarely a dull moment, I’ve experienced more adventure in mothering my son than ever imaginable. Motherhood gives me an excuse to stay young forever, kicking off my shoes and letting down my hair while enjoying love beyond measure. Motherhood is: my life, my joy, my passion, my greatest achievement. The best part of being a mother, in my opinion, is that with young children every moment is a new adventure. I love seeing their eyes light up with every new discovery. From figuring out how to sound out words, to mastering that addition problem, to just playing house with the dolls from their doll house — everything is done with an innocence and a sense of awe. I love watching them learn to walk, run, and speak new words. I love the singing and most of all the hugs and cuddles they give.

  • Boitshoko says:

Being a mom is, indeed, one of the most difficult and challenging jobs in the world.
The “best part of being a mom is getting to see her on a daily basis when she learns, explore, grow, smile, laugh and even cry can make any moment memorable. Seeing the confident, free-thinking, creative she has become, helps me remember that the little stumbles in parenting mean very little in the long run. Every moment is a new adventure. I love seeing her eyes light up with every new discovery, from figuring out how to sound out words, to mastering that addition problem, everything is done with an innocence and a sense of awe.
My Daughter is teaching me to be the best version of myself that I can be, as a mom, I need to be more patient, kinder, gentler, sweeter and more rational than I generally am able to be on my own. She brings out the best in me, I make time to do the fun things in life like colour Easter eggs, hide n seek and skipping rope. Being a mom is the pure joy I get from being a special part of my daughter’s life. It gives me courage to face and conquer my own fears so that I can allow her to see that no matter the difficulty, you can accomplish what you want.
