How often do we find ourselves complaining and moaning about our lives and situations in our lives? Most importantly, how often do we take a moment to actually just appreciate our lives?
Personally, sometimes I get pulled into that dark corner of self pity. Where I moan and complain, and where I just take several moments to be miserable. I mean don’t we all? Or is it just me? My word, I hope i’m not alone in this!
Anyway, I’ve grown to realize that happiness is a choice one makes. Simply because my friend or my neighbour is happy doesn’t necessarily guarantee my happiness. It is a tough realisation to actually see that your happiness really is dependent on you.
It has taken me years to actually get to a point where I can say I am happy with my life. It is still a work in progress to get to that *Content* stage but i’m very hopeful i’ll get there someday.
Honestly it doesn’t even take much to bring out the joy and happiness in you. At least it didn’t for me. I just did a little bit of self assessing where I faced the hard truths. Sidebar: I feel like bring out that happiness is somehow related to actually loving yourself and loving your life.
Following these simple steps daily has truly helped me out on this journey to uncover the joy and happiness within me. Try them, you might just discover magic.
- Make a conscious decision to look on the bright side. (Not always possible but try)
- Never ever compare your life to someone else’s
- Don’t believe everything you see on social media – people only show the good not the bad
- Appreciate what you have
- Don’t dwell on what could/would have happened
- Don’t live your life trying to please others
- Remember to smile
These all sound so easy to do but they can be very difficult to actually practice. Just remember that it’s your life. You only get to live it once and you should make it count. Make it about you and no one else.
I am learning to do so with every single passing day. I am learning to be unapologetically me and I love it. I love being happy.
Are you happy?
xoxo
